Broken vtx doesn't work

Order Number: 697016
Product Name: Race Ranger Vtx
Brand: Akk race ranger analogue long range vtx
I fitted it all easily and it worked happily on the bench then went to do a quick test and worked for about 10 seconds outside then my goggles went static and now it’s not turning on. I have looked at some forums and I presume the vtx has been cooked. I have no idea how it was brand new !! I have attached a video of me plugging in the vtx and no LEDs and I checked everything in beta flight and did a pre flight check I cannot understand how it broke it wasn’t overheating as I plugged in the battery and then took off.
Checked the soldering, checked if battery was low.

Sorry to hear about this, could you send me a photo showing how the VT was mounted onto your frame and a photo showing how it was connected (so we can see the wire from the FC/power source to the VTX unit itself please)

How would you rate our customer service?

Kind Regards

Thanks, its tricky to see from that video, but is the VTX touching any of the carbon on your frame?

Also could you send a picture so that we can trace the wires groing from the VTX to your FC, just to verify they are all connected correctly, as again its not possible to see this from your video.

Sorry to be a pain about these images, but AKK will need us to send this before they can authorise any replacements

Hey Alex,

The vtx itself was not touching the carbon only the fins on the heatsink.

Yes of course not a problem they are attached above !! I do apologise for my video skills.

I hope you can see that I didn’t attached the two wire in the middle the red and black as I don’t need them and I put electrical tape around each end.

Nono don’t worry at all thank you very much for everything so far and I hope these images help.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Kind regards,
Ethan

Hi

Could you please double check this wire, as from the photo it looks like it has been pinched on the carbon which would cause a short (since carbon is very conductive) so this would explain the cause of the issue.

Hi, thanks for the photos, but asI mentioned, that red wire clearly has been pinched and has the wire exposed which is the likely cause of the issue.

Furthermore it looks like there are some loose wire strands on your connections, which again could of caused a short to damage the VTX.

So unfortunately on this occasion the issue is not caused by a product fault, but due to a short which is not covered under warranty. However, as a gesture of goodwill I will be willing to offer a 30% discount on a replacement VTX for you as I appreciate that this sort of thing can happen.

Hey Alex,

Ahh ok, thanks you very much for all your help, that makes sense and I can understand the angle at which they’re coming from.

Thank you very much for your gesture would it be possible to use it on SpeedyBee TX800 VTX ? And I’ll have to order next day delivery as ideally need it by tomorrow sadly.

I hope that doesn’t break down; I see where they’re coming from but 2 of these models have broken down very quickly with no warning so I’ll go for a different model. And I’ll be extra careful with placement and where the wires are going.

Thank you again Alex for your quick responses and help I greatly appreciate it.

Kind regards,
Ethan

We cant give 30% discount on that VTX as its more expensive, but what I have done is issued a 30% refund as store credit for the AKK VTX you ordered, then you can use that towards ordering a new one, or a Speedybee Tx800

Kind Regards

Alex
