The DJI O4 has landed, and it’s not just your average upgrade; it’s a bit of a game changer in the FPV world. Both the O4 Pro and O4 Air Unit bring significant improvements across the board—from image quality to latency, making them must-haves for anyone serious about their aerial antics. The O4 Pro boasts a larger 1/1.3 inch CMOS sensor, allowing for better low-light performance and detail, while the Air Unit keeps things lightweight, perfect for your petite drone builds.
In terms of specs, the O4 Pro’s weight is a mere 29.6 grams (with camera and VTX), while the Air Unit comes in at an astonishingly light 8.8 grams. Compatibility is another feather in their cap; existing AOS v5 frames can seamlessly integrate these units with a little 3D printed magic. Of course, let’s not forget the new camera mounting pattern, which may have a few modellers scratching their heads but ultimately enhances versatility.
And what’s this about video latency? The O4 Pro claims a cheeky 15 milliseconds in race mode, making it a contender for those who like their feedback as immediate as possible. However, be wary of the 120fps modes—what you see in the goggles is actually capped at 60fps, which might leave some pilots feeling a tad underwhelmed during high-speed flights.
