DJI O4 vs. Walksnail: The Range Wars

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

With the arrival of the DJI O4 air unit, the age-old debate between DJI and Walksnail has kicked off anew. In our latest blog post, we pitted the Walksnail GT2 against the mighty DJI O4 Pro in a proper range test. Spoiler alert: while Walksnail boasts a more powerful transmitter, it struggled to maintain a decent bitrate, resulting in image quality that can only be described as a bit of a dog’s breakfast compared to DJI’s steady and vibrant output.

Next on the chopping block was the DJI O4 Lite versus the Walksnail 1S. The O4 Lite performed reasonably well despite some channel hiccups, displaying decent colours and bitrate retention. The 1S, on the other hand, had more ups and downs than a rollercoaster, often delivering an image that resembled a pixelated modern art piece rather than anything usable.

In summary, if you’re after reliable performance and top-notch image quality, DJI seems to have the upper hand. Walksnail might tickle your fancy for brand loyalty or other whimsical reasons, but when it comes down to brass tacks, DJI’s clearly in pole position.
