Drone Propeller Showdown: Ethix P2 vs HQProp J33 vs J37 – The Ultimate Face-Off!

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

So, we’ve been having a tinker with some new props and thought it might be worth sharing the highlights. In this little showdown, we’ve pitted the new Ethix P2s—affectionately known as “pickle props”—against the popular HQProp J33 and J37. The P2s are 5.1 inches long with a rather low pitch of 2.9, which is a bit of a departure for those who usually favour higher-pitched options. But fear not, they still manage to deliver quite the performance.

In our testing, the P2s, while slightly heavier at 4 grams each compared to the J33s and J37s, surprised us with their power for such a low pitch. They might lack the silky smoothness of the J37s, but they’re no slouches when it comes to performing stunts like power loops or Matty flips. If you prefer a more chilled flying style, these props are worth a gander.

After a good six-pack of flights—don’t worry, we mean battery packs—the P2s held up remarkably well. Only a few props bit the dust, which is commendable given my less than gentle flying manner. Their balance of power and control makes them a decent pick for novices or anyone looking to take it easy in the skies.

In conclusion, the P2s are versatile all-rounders for beginners, whereas the J33s excel in tight spots and the J37s remain the go-to for those who like it fast and furious. Choose wisely, my friends, and may your flights always be smooth.
