Internal multi protocol doesn't work in D8

Order Number: 696375
Product Name: Pocket Tx
Brand: RadioMaster
All 5 quads bind, but have multiple RX recovery flag’s in beta flight ,external modules all work and D8 quads work on other TX tried.
In the reciever tab channels do not correspond and throttle joggles aux 2 etc.
Edge TX doesn’t seem to have any protocol options on D8 that would cause this.
Sorry much shortened as 3rd time entering this before it crashes and starts me having to input all again
Swapped to Elrs RX and quad fine, tried another TX and all works,re flashed fcu, tried Frsky X 8ch and other variants

Hey, could you double check your order number as that number does not seem to be a valid Unmanned Tech order?

How would you rate our customer service?

Kind Regards

sorry was the order number on the delivery dock UT-696375 is on invoice
If you can let us know if this needs to go back ,other TX’s work and EDGE doesn’t seem to have any D8 options and it was purchased for using in D8 with existing whoops.

THanks, so just so I understand, your quad us sing Frsky D8, and you cant seem to bind it with your pocket radio?

Do you know if its receiver is running D8 FCC, or D8 LBT, as that could be the issue.

Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve binding issues. Set the internal RF mode to MULTI, type to FrSky, and subtype to D8

thank you for the reply ,but as I think I said I cannot find any options within edge TX regarding FRsky D8 …where are they located?

I select Multi and FrskyD as type and D8 as subtype but their is no other option to change FCC or LBT that I can find in Edge TX !

If this is because it is set to FCC and non LBT compliant then it is illegal and needs returning and refunding as unfit for purpose in the UK.

Can you please try to change to Frsky X in the menus, then select CH_8, or EU_8 depending if your Frsky receiver on your drone is FCC or EU-LBT mode.

YOu do this in the Radio Setup screen as per your photo above, change from Frsky D, to Frsky X, and the subtype select CH_8, or EU_8 depending if your Frsky receiver on your drone is FCC or EU-LBT mode.

For more info how to use the 4in1 modules, please see the Multi-module documentation here - FrSky X (D16) | MULTI-Module Documentation

having already done all this here is the 3rd response to the “Tech support” I sent.

"I have tried ALL D16 options and none bind
the options available in FrskX are
D16
D16 8ch
LBT(EU)
LBT 8ch
cloned

all have been tried as well as all Frskyx2 options.#

The D8 option binds immediately with all but has the telemetry lost /gained on a continuous cycle and the receiver tab in Betaflight is as described in first query
their are no other options in D8 other than cloned which has also been tried.

So do we conclude this TX does not support D8 and their fore is not as described or

Do we conclude this is a faulty TX?"

I purchased most of the drones through you I believe I would have thought binding a Tinyhawk freestyle 2 purchased from you) in D8 would bind it binds in a friends Jumper Tlite (edge TX) and my brothers T16s and when exactly the same options are selected on the pocket it goes into a cycle of gaining and losing telemetry with channels acting as first described.

I have easily spent 20 hours trying to get any of my D8 quads to work with this TX that claims to support D8 and the best solution “tech support” can give is to add receivers to all of them as “D8 is very old”

I did propose sending to you with any of them ( I would pay postage both ways) to see if you could bind or if a replacement would.

I cannot see this as anything other than “unfit for purpose” as electrical goods or it is indeed a faulty internal TX module ,in over 40 years of RC flying I have never had such a frustrating issue.

Given everything I have done with no change in results and no viable suggestion from “Tech Support” I wish to return for a refund and purchase an alternate elsewhere.

Thanks for confirming some more information so I can try to help.

So it does look like you can get it bound up, so thats a good sign. However, the telemetry lost/recovered in a continuous cycle, this can be an expected outcome, particularly if your Tx is set to a higher output power, and is within 1-2m of your drone (particuarlly indoors), as what happens is the TX signal is multipathing and basically overwhelming the RX so it keeps dropping the telemetry packets.

Could you please check this again, but keep your Radiomaster TX at least 2m away from your drone (ideally futher) to see if you still get that same behaviour? If you do then its probably best to get a Radiomaster engineer involved who can help as if that is the case we can look at getting the radio replaced/repaired for you

tested as described but exactly the same result ,even tested with reduced power.
it will bind and telemetry starts ,unplug drone signal lost voice
so it does connect to controller but does nothing I or any of my felow fliers have ever seen before. with the channels in the rx tab.
the only channel that acts correctly is aux 1 most do nothing.

I have had the help of two other local fliers also of many years neither could help apart from confirming the drones all work as they should when bound in D8 to their TX, as I have copied all setting from the working T lite (which works) I am at a total loss

still thanks for the late response ,shame it didn’t work

I assume that the model is setup correctly that you have all the channels mapped etc… as if only Aux1 is working it could be a asign of the mixers note being set correctly…

So just to confirm you still get the constant telemetry lost/connected messaging when you are further away? As I agree it is slightly puzzling that its binding ok, but not working.

Could you take a video showing this happening, along with you going through the model settings on your radio in the video, and attach it here (or to youtube as unlisted, or a service like imgurl.com), that way I can pass this over to Radiomaster engineers who will be able to check everything, and hopefully offer the solution, otherwise they will confirm a fault and authorise it to be returned where we can get it replaced for you.

Kind Regards
