Night Vision Upgrade: The Vifly Tactical Light Kit for DJI Avata 2 Reviewed

This is a companion topic for our recent blog post on blog.unmanned.tech

Rimzler’s latest blog post gives us the lowdown on the Vifly Tactical Light Kit for DJI Avata 2—an accessory that finally lets you channel your inner nocturnal aviator. This nifty kit boasts two bottom lights and a front flashlight, weighing in at a mere 50 grams, so it won’t turn your drone into a flying brick. Made from 3D-printed TPU and aluminium, it’s designed to withstand a bit of British drizzle and is charged via USB-C (though a three-in-one cable wouldn’t have gone amiss, let’s be honest).

Installation is as easy as pie; just pop in the bottom lights, while the front light requires a dab of glue to keep it secure—perfect for those who enjoy a spot of DIY with their flying. The front light features two brightness levels, and the bottom lights can either stay still or dazzle in a variety of patterns. Rimzler took this bad boy for a spin in pitch-black conditions and was pleased to discover that visibility was impressive enough to spot the odd squirrel before it became an accidental propeller decoration.

He also points out that the lights not only enhance the flying experience but could also come in handy for nighttime inspections—because who wouldn’t want to check their roof for loose slates at the witching hour? Just remember, while these lights might make you feel like a knight of the skies, they won’t do the flying for you.

For those curious souls wanting even more details, check out the full test flight and what it’s like taking your Avata 2 into the night.
