OpenIPC - Read Before Buying

UnmannedTech is incredibly excited about the innovation behind the OpenIPC project and fully support the amazing work being done by the development team. The Emax Wyvern and Runcam WifiLink represent a major step forward in creating an open-source digital FPV system. It is important to note that these products are not final, polished releases but rather early versions that require community feedback to help refine and improve both the hardware and software.

We strongly encourage potential buyers to research the OpenIPC system before making a purchase. While these products offer great potential, they are still in development and come with certain limitations that may affect their performance. By supporting this project, you’re contributing to the growth of an exciting open-source ecosystem, but please be aware of its current strengths and areas for improvement.

Thank you for supporting OpenIPC.

Hi , I just wanted to mention that the wyvern link 2W version that you guys are selling soon uses an of the shelf wifi module (AC180) made by a 3rd party called bigrookie , their products are not bad per say but their wifi modules have a prepencity for getting very hot , very quickly its possible that prolonged useage at 2W with inadiquate airflow may burn out the module like within 15 flights .

It would probably be better to check with EMAX if they have run into issues with lifespan specifically for this issue as the only experience I’ve had with bigRookie’s product is their openIPC capable R1 air unit (its quite a nice air unit tbh) and that had a wifi module that got very hot , very quickly - (I’d estimate that the heat sink was at about 65 cel and that was after I was waiting 30 sec for GPS - ( I had burnt myself touching the heatsink)) .

On the WFB-NG telegram and github they do warn people about the board burning out at the advertised 2W , personally i think the module is perfectly happy operating at 1-1.5W but 2W is asking a bit to much of the module.

Again DO NOT take my word for it , it would be far better to double check with EMAX about this issue .

Also when you guys say “stock arriving soon” does that mean like 3-4 weeks out or like in a weeks time , i would love to buy the 100mW EMAX air unit soon (sorry if im being impatient )
