Order Number: 703604
Product Name: Radiomaster Tx12 Elrs
Brand: RadioMaster
When I first turned on the transmitter it said the SD Card was missing. I unclicked the SD Card and then re-clicked and it then said it was ok and the radio powered on. Since then I’ve started to bind to a ELRS receiver, and every now and then it will say that the SD Card is missing. I go through the same process of taking out and replacing the SD Card. Sometimes this works, sometimes not. I’ve also been working through the settings for a model and all of the tools have disappeared, sometimes all of the models have disappeared. I’ve also had it say they throttle was on when it hasn’t been. It’s clear to me there’s a fault with this transmitter, and I wouldn’t trust it to remain in a stable state whilst flying my quad.
See previous step.
Hi Paul good day,
I’m really sorry to hear you are battling with you RadioMaster.
I have reached out to RadioMaster and have asked for their assistance regarding this matter.
As soon as I hear back from them I will let you know.
Again, I do apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you.
How would you rate our customer service?
Regards,
David

Dear David
It is quite clear to me that the transmitter is faulty. If you’ve read the additional emails I’ve sent to your support email address, it will be clear I want to return the transmitter to you and get either a full refund or a new replacement.
The existing transmitter even has a small nick on the power button and a scuff on the displays screen.
It’s clear to me that this transmitter has been previously returned and then resold.
I don’t want technical help from RadioMaster. I want a refund, and yet your website isn’t allowing me to make that return as it won’t accept the images I am trying to download as proof of the fault.
Please can you sort this out.
Kind regards
Paul Jerome
Hi
Its likely that there is a SD card issue, possibly due to a faulty SD card. Would you please be able try to format the SD card (or possibly try to use an alternative SD card) to see if you still have thee same issue as this will help us to narrow down the cause of the issue to be the card. Then we can arrange to get a new one sent out if this is the case as I am pretty sure this is the cause of the fault.
But that said if you return the item, please proceed to create a return via this page Returns - Unmanned Tech Shop, select the skip troubleshooting option and click the link to complete the returns form and included that when shipping the item back and we will get it checked/refunded for you once we get it back.
if you have any other issues, please let me know!
Thank you.
Unfortunately I don’t have a spare micro SD Card or a way to format SD Cards either.
I’ll return it to you and reorder once it’s been processed.
Thanks for you help
Kind regards
Paul

Subject [DroneTrest] [Help/Unmanned Tech] Order #703604 - Radiomaster Tx12 Elrs - Faulty Transmitter
Hi,
I found a micro SD Card in my phone, and plugged it in to the TX12, and at first glance it does appear to be working. TX12 is saying it has bad data, but it is at least recognising the memory card and asking me to calibrate the joysticks.
Unfortunately I can’t fully test it out as the SD Card has all my family photos on it.
So does the SD card need to be preloaded with stuff to make it work with the TX12?
Kind regards
Paul

Hi Paul good morning,
Good news, we received a really nicely detailed email from RadioMaster, explaining what to do to fix the issue. What is more encouraging is their feedback also suggests that the SD card is the issue. Please see the below instructions and comments from RadioMaster on how to sort out your issue:
It seems that the SD card is broken, maybe it seems normal, but it can not be used normally, you can find an SD card with no more than 32GB or less capacity to verify the problem, EdgeTX system supports up to 32GB, and is only compatible with Fat32 format, please format the new SD card into Fat32.
We offer version 2.8.4 of the SD Card factory file on our official website, which contains 4 preset models and system Settings. You can use SD card factory file to restore factory Settings.
Your remote control is the TX12MarkII ELRS version, and the downloaded file name should be:
“TX12MKII ExpressLRS 2.8.4 Factory SD Contents & Firmware”
Do not download the factory files for TX12, TX12 is different from TX12MKII.
TX12MKII SD Card factory file Download link:
https://www.radiomasterrc.com/pages/firmware-updates
After downloading the factory file and UnZip, copy everything to the SD card root folder. To ensure that all folders are in the correct location on the SD card, take a screenshot against the attached SD card root folder.
The two most important folders in the SD card, please backup these two folders in time, any time there is any problem, copy these two folders to the SD card root folder to restore all Settings and models:
/MODELS: All model data
/RADIO: indicates system Settings data
Hope this sorts out the issue you have been having with your radio.
Regards,
David

Thanks David, that does sound promising.
Unfortunately I don’t have a spare micro SD Card, or a card reader.
I’ve checked in my local Argos and this would cost a total of £21.98.
As the SD Card was part of a new product that I purchased just a few weeks ago, I’m wondering are you going to send me a new pre-installed SD Card, or as an alternative provide a credit note for having to purchase these parts myself?
Many thanks
Paul

We would be able to send a replacement microSD card for you, but we where hoping to see if an alternative would solve the issue first, otherwise we may end up sending you one to find the issue isnt solved.
Could you please confirm if you have managed to format the included one, and reload the SD card contents onto it from the radiomaster website? As you may find just this on its own will resolve the issue, you can find thee SD card contents here for your radio: Firmware Updates – RadioMaster RC

Hi Alex
Yes it was definitely the SD Card. In the end the TX12 wouldn’t recognise there was an SD Card at all, so I think it was already on the way out.
I’ve since found a card reader in the loft, bought an SD Card from Argos, loaded the data from RadioMaster and everything seems to be working fine now
Thanks for your help
