Order #718626 - Skyrc Q200neo Ac/Dc Multi-Function Smart Charger - SkyRC Q200neo - no longer turning on

Order Number: 718626
Product Name: Skyrc Q200neo Ac/Dc Multi-Function Smart Charger
Brand: SkyRC
Hi, I was using my skyrc q200 neo had been using it to set my lipos to storage charge, when trying to plug in my second set of lipos to discharge when plugging into the xt60 connector the charger made a noise and completely shut down. I tried to plug and unplug the power and this did not change anything. At the time I was discharging GNB 650mah 4s lipos.

I then tried to provide power to the charger from the xt60 input but when I did this the charger made a puff of smoke and the xt60 input connector then burned.

The charger is now completely dead, however I was using the charger as intended and believe this to be some sort of manufacturing issue as the xt60 connector was plugged in correctly and caused some sort of short.
I tried to provide power using the XT60 input and this caused smoke to come from the device and burn the input connector

Hi David

Thank you for the update, as we wait for an update from skyrc would you need me to send the faulty device back to you to speed the process up?

Hi Michael good day,

I’m really sorry about the length of time it has taken to try and get any sort of response out of SkyRC. I have emailed them and sent them messages on wechat, Candy has acknowledged my messages. She said she will respond, yet, I still have not had and support regarding your case.

Hi David

Many thanks for your update. I appreciate your help in this matter.
I have received the RMA information and have now packed the item back along with the RMA form and will make my way to the post office soon.
I have lost faith in Sky RC’s charger due to the failure and if a refund is possible would greatly appreciate it.

Kind Regards
Michael

Hi Michael good day,

I do not blame you, and I am really sorry for how this has gone thus far, again I do apologise on behalf of SkyRC for this. When you get a tracking detail for the return please can you let us know and then I can sort out the refund for you.

I had a reply regarding my initial email to SkyRC only today.

I will sort out the product issue with them separately but I would greatly appreciate your help with the following questions I received from them:

1, First Battery

  • you mentioned discharging a GNB 650mAh 4S LiPo to storage. Was this battery disconnected from the charger before you plugged in the second set of batteries?
    2, Second battery

  • Was the XT60 connector the only port used ? Did the charger display any error messages or warnings before shutting down?
    3, Power Supply

  • when you power on the charger charger via XT60 (DC input port), did the two batteries still connect to the charger?

Please share the series number of your charger

Hope this helps.
If there is anything else I can help with please do let me know?

Regards,
David

Hi David

Many thanks for your reply. The tracking number of the return is HZ256636751GB, I dispatched it on Friday last week and it is now showing as delivered.

1, First Battery

  • you mentioned discharging a GNB 650mAh 4S LiPo to storage. Was this battery disconnected from the charger before you plugged in the second set of batteries?
2, Second battery - I was discharging 4 x GNB 650mAh 4s lipos which had all completed the storage charge process, once they had all completed I then unplugged one of these lipos to start plugging in another set of 4 x 4 x GNB 650mAh 4s lipos, I unplugged one lipo from the charger, then started plugging in the new lipo to storage charge, first with the balance lead and then with the XT60 connector and this is when the pop occurred and the charger stopped working.

  • Was the XT60 connector the only port used ? Did the charger display any error messages or warnings before shutting down?
3, Power Supply - Not sure I understand this question, the 4 x lipos that had been storage charging where all plugged in via balance lead and XT60, when unplugging the completed lipo storage charge I first plugged in the balance lead which read the cells correctly on the new lipo but when plugging in the XT60 into the charger that is when the charger made a pop noise and turned itself off and became unresposive. No error messages or warnings before shut down.

  • when you power on the charger charger via XT60 (DC input port), did the two batteries still connect to the charger? - When I attempted to power the charger via XT60 the XT60 on the lipo and the input connector burned up, then smoke came out of the charger.

Please share the series number of your charger - The charger is now been sent back to Unamnned Tech so you should be able to get the serial number once you open the package.

Thanks
Michael
