Order #UT-708933 - Radiomaster Rp3-H Expresslrs Receiver - Ticking Noise like a clock whilst on

Order Number: UT-708933
Product Name: Radiomaster Rp3-H Expresslrs Receiver
Brand: RadioMaster
As soon as I power the receiver on there is a strong ticking/clicking noise coming from the receiver.
It is mounted on a helicopter and it seems to work on the bench. It connects to the nomad and the servos and motor move fine. However, I’m nervous of taking it to the field and losing the connection as soon as there is a bit of distance between us.
It is my first elrs receiver, but I have never seen any video or comments about noise coming from the receiver.

Is that a normal behavior of this receiver?
I have tried with my previous receiver and the noise was not present. Also, If I unplug the cable the noise stops and the helicopter failsafe.
The noise seems to come from the receiver.

Hi Marco good day,

I completely agree with you, your RX should not be making a noise, and risking a brownout on a heli is absolutely not worth it.

Can I ask how you are powering the RX, and if the voltage is within the spec for the unit?

I’ll get RM involved and get his resolved for you as quick as I can.

David

Hi David,

The receiver is connected to the sbus connector of an OMP M2 Evo which supplies 5V. The connector also has the data and ground line. I left the Rx pin disconnected as the sbus does not use it.

The battery sensing pin is connected to the input xt30 and it uses 3s batteries, so it should be within spec

Thank you

Marco
