Product Name: Speedybee Nano 2.4ghz Elrs Reciever
Brand: SpeedyBee
Hello,
I went to bind the speedybee Reciever to a jumper t20s, I put it into binding mode and moments later I could smell burning. I then unplugged the battery and upon inspection one of the microchips looks to have burnt. Prior to this I had, had the drone plugged into the battery on a few occasions initially using a smoke stopper and had just had the drone plugged into to my desktop to configure the flight controller. I checked the wiring was correct and yes. No idea what happened.
Thanks in advance!
I haven’t tried anything else in case it damages it more.
Sorry to hear about this, just to confirm that the burning came from thee speedybee nano RX?
Could you send some clear photos (that are not blurry) that can shows how the wires were soldered onto the RX and also the FC, as well as a photo showing the burnt components.
Can you also confirm the voltage going into the receiver from your FC/ battery or however you are powering the RX?
I can then show this to speedybee to see if we can get a replacement for you, or offer any other suggestions based on the cause of the fault.
Thank you for bringing the issue with your SpeedyBee Nano 2.4GHz ELRS Receiver to our attention. We’ve reached out to SpeedyBee/Runcam to authorize a replacement for you. We’ll keep you updated on their response and let you know if they require any additional information.
Thank you for your help, if it isn’t a fault of mine would I be able to get a refund or swap it for a different similarly priced product as I have already bought a replacement?
Yeah, once its confirmed faulty we can issue a refund for the item (if its within our time period for refunds) or just issue store credit refund so you can use it towards your next order.
I regret to hear about this. Do you have a friend or acquaintance who could lend you one? Speedybee has indicated that the issue (fried voltage regulator) is likely caused by over-voltage, or reverse polarity and they need confirm the voltage going into the RX rule out this cause. Without this proof, they believe that the issue arises from the receiver being supplied with incorrect voltage. I will inform them that you cannot measure this but without this proof, it is they accept a warranty replacement. Nevertheless, I try to advocate on your behalf.
If yoou do not have one, getting a multimeter is super beneficial for this hobby, as there are a few available under £10 from Amazon
Just to update you, it seems we have managed to get speedybee to agree to replace the RX as a goodwill gesture since they seem to think the fault was caused by incorrect voltage/reverse polarity to burn out that component.
I am just waiting back for them to confirm if they are sending the replacement to you, or if they want us to send you one from stock, but it make take a few extra days with them now being closed of CNY, but as soon as I have an update!
