Product query for VTX and telemetry equipment

Hi, I hope you can help. I am building a rudder / elevator glider with on board cameras (2). The glider is using a Pixhawk 6c and supplied GPS unit but I need the following to go with it and have some questions regarding the cameras:

  1. 2 Cameras with15.5 mm od lens or as near as possible. Is there a unit this size that has 20 x zoom?

  2. On screen display.

  3. 868 Telemetry Radio (RFD) set. (ie. Your bundle). Tx / Rx for GCS

  4. Video transmitter (as high as possible mw)

I think this is all I need but not sure. The setup will be Ardupilot based. The cameras must be switchable from one to the other but I have a switching unit.

As you are familiar with ardupilot, I would recommend some of the threads regarding payload/camera configuration. There are a number of projects which explain how to control cameras, even large Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras. There are also some nice projects on the go currently which utilise the raspberry Pi high quality line of cameras, this would be a lot lighter and more compact, although require more integration. The choice of payload, obviously depends on your payload capacity though.

As for small zoomable cameras like a convention 19X19 or 14X14 mm fpv, I am not aware of anything that small which does zoom. Foxeer makes a 160ish gram zoomable camera that does either 10X or 30X zoom. It is a sony sensor and PWM zoom controllable. Other than that the options are limited.

OSD can be achieved by injecting the overlay into your video stream separately with something like this:

Although, if you are planning on using the RFD system with a laptop for example, the need for OSD wouldn’t be necessary as you would have all of this information available to you already.
