Rimzler’s latest escapade takes on the Flywoo FlyTimes 85, a drone that struts its stuff at under 100 grams and flirts with both cinewhoop and toothpick designs. In his trial, Rimzler first soars with the prop guards attached, showcasing commendable stability even in blustery conditions, before contemplating whether they’re more hindrance than help.
Once the guards are off, he finds the drone sheds a bit of weight—down to 63 grams—which, naturally, alters its flight dynamics. While the drone zips about with a bit more flair, one mustn’t forget the increased risk of damaging exposed components, especially for those still mastering the art of aerial ballet. A quick tip: if you fancy forgoing the guards, do swap out the screws for shorter ones to avoid motor mishaps.
In the end, Rimzler concludes that whilst pottering around without prop guards can yield improved performance (and potentially longer flights), it’s best left to those who know what they’re doing. Newbies might want to stick with the default setup, as it’s quite adept at keeping misadventures to a minimum.
